BEST PRACTICES
IR team members have an excellent working knowledge of—and are committed to implementing—the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples and the Calls to Action of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. Team members have the International Association of Public Participation training and wherever possible, we are proud to use Gender-Based Analysis Plus tools.
Recommendations and Calls to Action presented in the final reports on Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls and the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada have resulted in greater awareness surrounding the importance of identifying and mapping the impacts of energy and extractive projects on the social infrastructure within the host or potentially impacted communities. Governments, the corporate sector, and Indigenous communities have been called upon to proactively and collaboratively create social impact and social justice management strategies.
