BSocSc Political Science (with Psychology)

A communications and marketing professional with considerable energy sector expertise, Tanja has served in a variety of European and Canadian leadership capacities and worked in Brussels on many European Union initiatives such as the European Energy Union, the EU Emissions Trading Scheme and the Fuel Quality Directive. She has a particular interest in the challenges of integrating transatlantic and global perspectives into Canadian energy policy making.


With more than a decade of political and public relations experience in both the Canadian and European parliaments’, she has been active in several federal and provincial election campaigns, including having run as a candidate herself.


Tanja is a youth empowerment and leadership advocate and has co-chaired the City of Toronto’s youth advisory board. She represented Canada as a delegate to the Young European Council, debating issues related to the Energy Union and climate change. She was also a Young European Leadership delegate for the Conference of Parties of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.


Passionate about giving back to her community, Tanja mentors for the Urban Native Youth Association and was recently selected as a Vancouver Global Shaper—a World Economic Forum initiative encompassing a global network of young change makers.

Tanja loves travelling and has been to more than 33 countries. She is of British, Greek, Egyptian and Latvian heritage.
